Background
Every month roughly one million young Africans enter the job market, and most do not have the working skills they need to earn a basic income. Africa54 can help, with free online skills, tools, and resources to learn new practical skills, and build a better life.
Good things are happening in Africa, however there are cycles of violence in several regions, education is largely inadequate, jobs remain scarce, and tens of millions of young Africans are unemployed or underemployed, with millions moving to cities or trying to emigrate.
The lack of vocational training in much of Africa causes problems for many, moreover millions leaving school are unable to read, making it harder to improve basic skills or learn new practical skills.
Inflation, land degradation and climate change are further impacting jobs and opportunities. Most young Africans have no choice but to work as self-employed and need practical working skills to begin to build a stable living.
Africa54 delivers FREE online training skills, available on mobile devices and multilingual websites. Skills, tools, and resources are built on:

The skill are global and local, e.g. Street Trading. Street Food. Cooking Street Food to Sell (in Accra, Bulawayo, Freetown, Mombasa, Zinder, etc.), and designed to be easy to use and remain completely free. Training courses, being supported by Clarity-Ventures, match the skill categories.
The hardest task is to actually reach and encourage those who need it most to take full advantage of Africa54's mobile apps and tools and spur them to improve their working and local skills. The team continuously expands, modifies and upgrades working and local skill categories and specific subcategories; as a result the skills list is long.

- Africa-wide, there is a shortfall of 3-4 million additional jobs annually and growing.
- Africa's median age is 19.7 years.
- More than 80%+ of active African workers are self-employed; informal sectors are effectively the backbone of every African economy.

- The skills and tools are framed to minimise local data access/cost, especially for those relying on GSM or 3G.
